Child’s Play: The Video Game Announced
A Child’s Play video game has been announced today by Universal. It will be developed by TikGames and will be a downloadable title for PC and consoles. Your dreams of playing a video game as […]
I saw this video making the rounds this week and I must admit it’s hilarious. It shows various clips of people waiting at a bus stop in Brazil when a guy dressed as Chucky bursts through a poster and chases them with a fake knife. It was made for a TV show called Programa Silvio Santos with the permission of Universal to promote the recent Curse of Chucky film.
There’s quite an interesting interview with Don Mancini over on IGN. He discusses the road to making Curse of Chucky and what the future holds for the series.
IGN: So will we ever see a Child’s Play remake?
Mancini: I wouldn’t rule it out completely, but I think at this point my hope is that audiences will embrace this movie and the story and the characters that are introduced here and hopefully want to see more of that story. My preference at this point would be to continue with this direction we’re on now rather than doing a remake. There’s something about remakes – they’re very familiar. We know the story already. I don’t really know what the upside is on that anymore.
IGN: Do you have an idea for Chucky 7?
Mancini: I do have an idea for it. I guess we’ll have to see how this movie is received by the audience. Hopefully they’ll like it, and if they want more, we’ll give them more.

Here we can see what Chucky will look like the upcoming Curse of Chucky movie. The film’s co-star, Fiona Dourif, posted some soundtrack art on Instagram.
Written and directed by Don Mancini, the film concerns Nica (Fiona Dourif), a young woman grieving over the gruesome suicide of her mother when her domineering older sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti) arrives with her young family in tow to help settle their mother’s affairs. As the sisters butt heads over Nica’s plans for the future, Barb’s young daughter comforts herself with a grinning, red-haired talking doll named Chucky (voiced again by Brad Dourif) that recently arrived mysteriously in the mail.
But as a string of brutal murders begins to terrorize the household, Nica suspects the doll may hold the key to the bloodshed. What she doesn’t know is that Chucky has a personal score to settle. He’s determined to finish a job he started more than 20 years earlier, and this time he’s going to see it through to the bloody and shocking end.
It appears the Child’s Play video game from TikGames has been officially cancelled. About a month or so ago, they posted a Kickstarter project to try and raise $925,000. They revealed they had spent half a million dollars on it so far and 18 months of work. They also posted a video showing off some early game footage.
They only managed to raise $585 on the Kickstarter project and now, this was posted on the TikGames Facebook page: “It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of this Kickstarter Campaign. For those who have followed Chucky this last week, you know that pledges have been very slow. We built a fun campaign with lots of great goodies, got the word out to as many people as we could, but sadly not enough people loved the concept of a Chucky video game as much as we did. Our sincerest thanks go out to all of you who pledged to Chucky and we promise no charges will be made to your credit card for this Kickstarter project.”
